Paul H. Cloninger, DDS, PA

Dr. Cloninger grew up in Lincolnton, NC where his father and uncle were both practicing dentists. After graduating from Lincolnton High School (1989), he attended North Carolina State University, where he received a B.S. in Civil Engineering (1994). He worked several years with the NC Department of Transportation before deciding to pursue his true passion. In 2000, he received his doctorate of dental surgery degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Luckily he was able to return to Lincolnton and work alongside his father, uncle and now, brother, who were all practicing dentists at the time. Needless to say, dentistry is synonymous with the Cloninger name.

In 2005, Dr. Cloninger opened the practice in Cherryville, NC and has been fortunate to work alongside some wonderful staff members. In addition to work, he always found time to serve the community of Cherryville and his church. From middle school basketball coach to President of the Rotary Club, he stayed involved as much as he could. 

He has always made continuing education a priority in his life. In 2013, the International Dental Implant Association recognized Dr. Cloninger as successfully reaching their Mastership Level. This simply indicates the level of success in the placement and maintenance of implants. This advanced training certifies him to safely place and restore dental implants. Moreover his engineering background provides him the lateral thinking necessary when handling the most complex of dental cases. He has always enjoyed being able to do most any treatment his patients may need. From root canals, extractions to the permanent replacement of missing teeth.

Dr. Cloninger is happily married to a Cherryville native. They have a family of two sons and a daughter. He resides in North Myrtle Beach, SC where he splits his time working there and in Cherryville. His free time, if any, is spent with his family and canine companions.
